Anchor and offshore mooring chain manufacturer Jiangsu Asian Star Anchor Chain Co Ltd, known as AsAc and based in Jingjiang – a county-level city of Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – showcased its state-of-the-art testing facility for destructive fatigue tests on June 4.
"The fatigue performance of an anchor chain is paramount, requiring a minimum of 500,000 pulls in simulated seawater over an eight-year test cycle, with a service life exceeding 20 years," said Tao Xing, chairman of AsAc, highlighting the critical importance of anchor chain durability.
With an annual capacity of 300,000 metric tons, AsAc is said to be a global leader in its field, supplying 70 percent of ship anchor chains and 50 percent of marine mooring chains worldwide.
Over a span of four decades, the company has reshaped the industry through innovations such as the R3 mooring chain series and the establishment of international standards for ship and marine technology mooring chains.
A notable achievement from AsAc is their latest breakthrough – the deep-sea anchor pile, which the company says is poised to revolutionize anchoring processes by significantly boosting efficiency.
The advancement has already made great strides in offshore floating wind power projects, where anchor chains play a crucial role.
Moreover, AsAc's robust chains, initially tailored for maritime applications, have been integrated into the coal mining sector, offering durable solutions and reducing the frequency of replacements in major domestic coal mines.
Moving forwards, plans are in motion for AsAc to broaden its industrial footprint by concentrating on the research and design of floating wind power mooring systems and the development of essential support equipment.
