The port affairs bureau of the Jingjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone – located in Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – recently signed up for a joint venture with the maritime authorities of Jingjiang and Zhangjiagang cities in Jiangsu.
The partnership was established to verify and streamline the berthing and unberthing procedures specifically for CAPE-type bulk carriers operated by the shipping line Jiangsu Guoxin Qingang Operation Co Ltd.

The meeting oversaw the safe berthing of the Dawensheng, a 100,000-ton CAPE-type bulk carrier transporting 81,100 metric tons of coal.
This ship will dock at the 100,000-ton coal unloading berth in the second phase, operated by Jiangsu Guoxin Qingang Operation Co Ltd's port in Jingjiang.
At a total investment of 1.18 billion yuan ($163.15 million), the port has emerged as a key hub for large vessels like the Dawensheng.
Emphasizing safety protocols, operational coordination and successful berthing and unberthing, the meeting set the stage for future endeavors.
Moving forward, plans are for the Jingjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone to capitalize on its deep-water channel, optimize its navigation management and bolster the port economy for regional growth.
The CAPE-type bulk tankers, renowned for their capacity, resilience to adverse weather and cost-effectiveness, remain the preferred choice for terminals requiring extensive transport capabilities.
