The provincial government recently approved the granting of rights for foreign ships to use the dock for berthing and handling cargo in the second phase of the coal logistics base in Jingjiang city, a county-level city of Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province.

This is the only berth in the province to have been approved so far this year, as well as the only berth approved in the past five years in Jingjiang city.
The Jingjiang base is an important coal emergency reserve base in Jiangsu province and a key project in accelerating the development of modern services in the region.
The second phase of the project includes a 100,000 metric tons of coal unloading berth, which will not only handle the berthing and receiving of coal in the Jingjiang base – but also supply coal to power utility Jiangsu Guoxin Corporation Limited.
It's said the opening will better meet the demand for coal transit transportation in Jiangsu province and in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, as well as boost the capacity of the energy security reserves.

The opening is said to mark a new stage in the development of Jingjiang Port and the city has to date opened 15 wharves to the public.
