The launch ceremony for the 2,000 megawatts unit expansion project being undertaken by power utility Jiangsu Guoxin Corporation Limited was held on Aug 8 in the Jingjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone – located in Jingjiang city in East China's Jiangsu province.
Costing an estimated 8.39 billion yuan ($1.16 billion), it was approved by the Provincial Development and Reform Commission and it is said to be a significant endeavor in expanding the energy generating capacity of Jiangsu province.
The project aims to install two 1,000 Mw efficient and clean coal-fired generators, along with relevant auxiliary facilities.
They're expected to be completed and start operating by the end of 2025.
A feasibility study indicated the project would generate 10 billion kilowatt hours of power annually and that the average annual tax payments would total 200 million yuan.
The partnership between Jingjiang city and Jiangsu Guoxin Corporation Limited has been in place for over two decades and they have engaged in extensive cooperation in various sectors such as logistics, energy, finance and environmental protection.
