The county-level city of Jingjiang – located in East China's Jiangsu province – is riding a boom in small and medium sci-tech companies, leading the way for the prefecture-level city of Taizhou which administers it.
According to the latest statistics, some 227 small and medium sci-tech enterprises have registered this year in Jingjiang, accounting for over 60 percent of those in Taizhou city.
The data was released by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology.
Small, medium sci-tech enterprises are defined as companies that rely on a certain number of personnel in the field that engage in scientific and technological research and development activities.
They then achieve sustainable development by obtaining independent intellectual property rights and transforming them into high-tech products or services.
In recent years, Jingjiang has been striving to cultivate more science and technology-based SMEs. In what represents a surge, 929 small and medium sci-tech enterprises registered there last year, an extraordinary increase of 499.35 percent over 2019.
To date, a total of 504 Jingjiang-based enterprises have been recommended for evaluation in 2023, of which 227 have registered and 195 are in the second batch contained in the public announcement.
In addition to enjoying R&D subsidies, qualifying companies will also enjoy attractive incentives and policies for registered enterprises.
Moving forwards, plans are in motion for Jingjiang to publicize its attractions, optimize its business handling process and cultivate more small and medium sci-tech enterprises.
