The Jingjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone – located in Jingjiang city in East China's Jiangsu province – set out ambitious development goals for the current year at a government conference held on Jan 30.
Under them the metropolis – administered by the prefecture-level city of Taizhou – is planning for the surging development of its main economic indicators and is setting itself the goal of becoming one of China's top 100 districts.
The zone's industrial economic scale and port logistics are expected to top 200 billion yuan ($29.62 billion) and 100 billion yuan, respectively by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period.
In 2022, the zone's gross domestic product, industrial invoiced revenue and service industrial invoiced revenue reached 71.18 billion yuan, 98.46 billion yuan and 74.19 billion yuan – up 6.4 percent, 7.7 percent and 2.1 percent, respectively.
In addition to holding multiple conferences and forums, the zone signed contracts last year for 151 new projects each worth over 100 million yuan, broke ground at 27 projects and completed construction of 18 others.
Two projects in the zone were listed as major national foreign investment projects and four were included on a major provincial project list. Its efforts to bolster the transformation of its ports industry also won an award from the Taizhou municipal government.
Under the development goals, the zone will strive to foster a modern industry cluster in 2023.
It will introduce new projects for industries along a new path, expand the scales of metal materials and aviation manufacturing and develop the high-end equipment manufacturing, health and new energy sectors.
