Qingtong & Kuihua, a feature filmed in Jiangyan district, Taizhou, earned nominations for Best Children's Film and Best Editing in the 38th China Film Golden Rooster Awards.
Adapted from Cao Wenxuan's acclaimed novel and directed by Chen Kunhou, the film tells the story of how two children grow together through adversity, finding beauty amid struggles.
Local audiences will immediately recognize familiar riverbanks, fields, and villages in the film, including Tushan village in Dalun town, Qinhu Lake scenic area, Yangzhuang village in Yuxi town, and Yedian Ancient Street in Yuduo town, which serve as poignant backdrops for the film.
This film has continued to gain international recognition, selected for the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival Refreshing Chinese Cinema Program. It later shortlisted for the 65th Zlín Film Festival and the 20th Busan International Kids and Youth Film Festival, and won Best Photography Award in the Main Competition Section of the Within the International Festival of Family and Children's Films in Russia, Best Film at the Golden Flower Awards of the 6th Beijing International Children's Film Festival, and Artistic Excellence Contribution Award at the 18th China International Children's Film Festival.
