In March 2025, Jiangyan Port achieved a historic milestone by handling 5,253 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), surpassing the 5,000 TEU mark in a single month for the first time since the port's opening. This record-high volume highlights the port's growing role in regional logistics and trade.

Since signing the Inland Container Terminal (ICT) cooperation agreement with Shanghai International Port (Group) Co (SIPG) in 2024, Jiangyan Port has successfully integrated Shanghai's port services into the Yangtze River Delta's inland network. Through the ICT model, foreign trade containers and shipping routes from Shanghai are now directly accessible at Jiangyan, eliminating the need for complex transshipment procedures. This streamlining approach has significantly enhanced transport efficiency and simplified the export process for local enterprises.

In March alone, ICT container traffic accounted for 41.63 percent of the port's total throughput, representing a 14.8 percent year-on-year increase. The ICT model has become the main driver of growth, effectively removing logistics bottlenecks and bringing international port services to the local doorstep.

To meet rising demand, Jiangyan Port has upgraded operational workflows, optimizing yard layouts to reduce handling times per container. A 24-hour flexible work system has also been introduced, enabling vessels to dock, unload, and depart without delay.

Since the end of last year, barge routes have been further optimized to reduce lock passage times and shorten travel distances. The port now runs high-frequency barge services—averaging one to three departures per day—between Jiangyan and key ports such as Nantong, Taicang, and Shanghai. With these improvements, containers can now reach Shanghai within 24 hours, significantly cutting cargo turnover times.

Jiangyan Port plans to deepen its partnership with SIPG to enhance the logistics network across the Yangtze River Delta region, injecting new momentum into the region's high-quality economic development.
