In the period January to April, the Jiangyan district of Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – completed industrial investment totaling 10.02 billion yuan ($1.38 billion). That marked a hefty 29.4 percent year-on-year increase and ranked it third in the city.

Located in the Jiangyan Economic Development Zone, Jiangsu Hanfeng CNC Technology Co Ltd specializes in the development and production of CNC lathes, industrial robots and factory automation equipment.

Earlier this year, the company invested over 27 million yuan to purchase sophisticated new computer numerical control or CNC machine tools, replacing the old equipment.

"Previously, one employee was responsible for overseeing two machines. Now, with the introduction of automated lines each person can oversee 12 machines, increasing production capacity three to four times," said Li Wei, the company's deputy general manager.

In Louzhuang town, Taizhou Jinyuancheng Textile Co Ltd has invested over 21 million yuan in equipment upgrades.

Through this transformation, the finished product rate of fabrics produced by the company has increased from 96 percent to 99 percent. According to Qian Wei, head of the company, daily fabric production has risen from 220,000 meters to 300,000 meters.

Looking ahead, plans are for Jiangyan district to encourage its manufacturers to aim for high-end, intelligent and eco-friendly transformation by driving investment through large-scale equipment upgrades.
