There were thrills aplenty on May 3, when the much-anticipated 2024 Qingtong Boat Race finals were hosted in the Jiangyan district of Taizhou city, located in East China's Jiangsu province.

Following rigorous rounds of preselection in the preliminary and semifinal races, the top 10 teams advanced to the finals, where they engaged in a hard-fought competition. The fun and frolics were part of Qintong Boat Festival, which started on April 6 in the Qinhu Lake area.
After a sustained and close battle, the team representing the district education bureau emerged victorious.
The boat race was said to not only showcase exciting water racing, but also exemplified teamwork and sportsmanship. As a traditional folk sport, the event has won increased popularity among fans.
Looking ahead, Jiangyan district says it remains committed to developing the race – aiming to raise its profile as a much more prominent calendar event in the public eye.
Plans are to promote and attract a broader audience to explore and participate in the sport, thereby helping to preserve and celebrate the rich heritage of traditional Chinese culture.
