There was some real local excitement on March 28, when the Zixing Mingyuan new energy-themed parking pocket park – funded and developed by the Taizhou Jindong City Construction Investment Group – started operating in the Jiangyan district of Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province.

Covering 3,670 square meters, the park is situated on the southwest of the intersection of West Changjiang Road and Qianjin Road – opposite the south gate of Luotang subdistrict office in Jiangyan district.
It's designed as a community-oriented public space, featuring 20 electric vehicle charging spaces and 24 standard parking spaces – including two designated for disabled vehicles. To top it off, there are also amenities such as a fitness activity square, mobile wireless charging and a leisure service station.
The pocket park parking lot uses time-based charging, offering the first half-hour of parking free and capping the daily parking fee at 20 yuan ($2.77) per vehicle. The charging rate stands at 0.99 yuan per kilowatt-hour.
The establishment of the new energy parking facility is expected to help ensure eco-friendly travel for the residents of Luotang subdistrict, enhancing the concept of building a healthy and green city.
