These days the Jiangyan district of Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – is really standing out at night.
It's all aglow after more than 100,000 colored lights were unveiled during a stunning spectacle, designed to celebrate the 2024 Spring Lantern Festival at the People's Park, which on Feb 7 was turned on and which runs through to Feb 27.

The light installation generates intricate shapes, dynamic effects and features great craftsmanship, offering folks a true visual spectacle.
"It's amazing and very exquisite," said one visitor, called Qiao Xinli.
"The theme is also diverse and the children were excited when they came in," she added.
The event emphasizes traditional culture and includes interactive entertainment areas, a light and shadow bazaar and performances by local art organizations and folk orchestras.
It's an initiative that has clearly delighted residents. "Before, I was envious of my friends outside Taizhou who had lantern fairs to watch at their doorstep," said Jiangyan local Wang Yang.
"This year, I'm thrilled to enjoy the bright lights and feel the vibe of the Chinese New Year at home," he added.
