The Jiangyan Economic Development Zone – located in the Jiangyan district of Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – was recently honored.
It was recognized as an "internet + advanced manufacturing" special industrial base, according to a statement from the Industry and Information Technology Department of Jiangsu.
The zone is known for its potent industrial foundations and it is currently focusing on the new energy, new equipment and new infrastructure industries.
In 2022, the zone generated 32.33 billion yuan ($4.46 billion) in revenue, with a significant contribution from 31 new energy companies.
The new energy sector is said to now be the dominant industry, with the Shuangdeng Group leading in communications backup power supplies.
In response, the zone is proactively promoting its intelligent transformation and digitalization. It has established a three-year action plan and a mechanism for major project leaders and has a designated list of supervisors.
It has also established a range of smart factories and initiated the development of an intelligent management platform in partnership with China Mobile.
Overall, the recognition of Jiangsu province's "internet + advanced manufacturing" special industrial base is said to align with the government's focus on promoting the industrial internet.
Moving forwards, plans are in motion for the Jiangyan Economic Development Zone to continue to promote intelligence, digitalization and going green in the manufacturing industry.
