Producers of specialty agricultural products in the Jiangyan district of Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – are leveraging this year's Singles Day shopping extravaganza to boost their online sales.
Anchor Zhang Mengting, from the Dian Shang Ren Jia grain base in Zhangdian town, started livestreaming sales early in the morning.

Among the products she promoted were locally grown sweet potatoes from Zhangdian – known for their delightful fragrance, sweetness and moisture – priced at 13.9 yuan ($1.91) for 2.5 kilograms, with free delivery. Many netizens placed orders right after Zhang's presentation.
Zhangdian town has cultivated crops such as taro, red beans and sweet potatoes and has implemented an integrated production and sales model through the influential brand of Dian Shang Ren Jia.
The grain base made necessary preparations in advance and stocked up on high-quality grain. On Nov 11 alone, it received 4,000 or so orders during the livestreaming session.
Livestreaming is said to have emerged as a new agricultural driver in Zhangdian town and a catalyst for rural vitalization.
