The science museum in the Qinhu Lake National Wetland Park in Jiangyan district – located in Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – celebrated China's first National Ecology Day on Aug 15, with the theme of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets."

With a floor space of 4,300 square meters, the museum showcases the beauty and importance of wetlands preservation.

Visitors can explore the exhibition areas that depict the four seasons and the diverse ecosystem of the Qinhu Lake and explore the wetland themselves.

The wetland in the area is known for its pristine water quality, abundant natural resources and scenic views. It nurtures over 150 plant species, more than 100 types of wild animals and is home to protected species such as elk, red-crowned cranes and crocodiles.

The wetland is also a haven for over 30 bird species, including the cygnet.

Moving forwards, plans are for Jiangyan district to continue its progress in sustainable development, to become a model for taking action to make waters lucid and mountains lush – and to write a new chapter in building a beautiful China.
