The Jiangyan district of Taizhou city, located in East China's Jiangsu province – has just wrapped up its two sessions.
The second session of the 15th Jiangyan District Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, or CPPCC, kicked off there on Jan 2 and finished on Jan 3.
Ten members of the CPPCC presented proposals in various areas, such as promoting the development of the real economy.
Proposals were also forthcoming on the high-quality, balanced development of education, as well as protecting and developing traditional villages.
The second session of the 16th People's Congress of Jingjiang kicked off on Jan 2 in the district and finished on Jan 4, during which the government work report was released.
According to the report, Jiangyan's economy has enjoyed sound development. Gross Domestic Product, or GDP, last year was projected to reach 830 billion yuan ($12.08 billion), a year-on-year increase of 6 percent.
In 2022, the average per capita disposable income of rural residents was 28,997 yuan, up 7.6 percent over the previous year.
In particular, the district transformed and upgraded its traditional industries and realized steady and high-quality industrial development.
In addition to improvements to people's general well-being, the overall business environment, as well as the protection and conservation of the ecosystem and environment, continued to improve.
Moving forwards, the city will aim to achieve a 6.5 percent annual growth rate in GDP. Efforts will be made to boost the real economy, streamline its business environment and to build a green, livable and prosperous city.
