Concerted efforts have been made by the Taixing Huangqiao Economic Development Zone, located in Taixing city in East China's Jiangsu province, to conduct effective protection of its hazardous waste.
The zone has standardized its solid waste management mechanism and relied on the solid waste information management system to strengthen the standardized management of 64 hazardous waste business enterprises.
What's more, a circular transformation mode has also been promoted in the zone, facilitating the closed-loop circulation of materials within and between enterprises and industries, thereby achieving the recycling of solid waste.
Based on the current situation of hazardous waste generation and disposal capacity of the zone's enterprises, a comprehensive evaluation of capacity matching is being conducted to guide companies to make their investment directions wisely, in a bid to reduce their investment risks.
The zone has moved to enhance its emergency response capabilities for hazardous waste and sudden environmental incidents. It has established and dynamically updated a list of key risk supervision enterprises for hazardous waste and carried out differentiated management according to the requirements of hazardous waste classification and management.
To date, 18 hidden dangers have been identified and rectified.
Moving forwards, plans for the zone to continue to adhere to source controls, comprehensive deployment controls and full process controls, promoting the ability of hazardous waste utilization and disposals, said Yang Jihong, member of the zone's Party working committee.
