The Taixing Huangqiao Economic Development Zone in Taixing city –administered by Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – is pushing ahead with plans to build three specialized industry clusters, each with an industrial scale of over 1 billion yuan ($136.7 million).
One will be a high-rate lithium battery industry for power tools and electrical appliances, another a bio-fermentation and future foods industry, with the third an intelligent wind power equipment industry.
In line with the national Healthy China Initiative, the zone established its "Bio-fermentation and Future Food City of China".
It also worked with teams from the China National Center for Biotechnology Development, the China Biotech Fermentation Industry Association, Jiangnan University, among others, to conduct market-oriented operations of its industry research institute and testing center.
"Supported by national departments, the zone has held high-level research classes regarding bio-fermentation and future foods and has attracted over five top enterprises to settle there," said Shao Ming, secretary of the Party working committee of the zone.
The zone aims to sign up over 36 industrial projects with an investment of over 100 million yuan each this year, including three projects worth over 1 billion yuan each.
