An extraordinary music town where almost every resident can play instruments, Huangqiao town – located in Taixing city, in East China's Jiangsu province – was recently officially appointed to be the permanent main venue in China to celebrate Make Music Day on June 21 every year.
The announcement was made at the opening ceremony of Make Music Day in Huangqiao town this year. The event attracted the participation of nearly 5,000 performers and over 50 music groups on the day.
It's the seventh time Huangqiao town has been made the main venue for Make Music Day in China.

Huangqiao is also renowned for its violin industry in China, with its fiddle production accounting for over 70 percent of the national market share and around 40 percent of the world market share.
Indeed, the town is currently home to over 220 musical instrument manufacturers.
At present, Huangqiao is striving to integrate the development of the town, industry and tourism, in a bid to promote its brand of instrument arts tourism. To upgrade its tourism sector, plans are for it to establish cooperative relationships with the Yangtze River Delta regions.
Established in 1982 in France, Make Music Day is an important international festival for music lovers that has spread to over 130 countries and regions.
