The former residence of top scientist Ding Wenjiang, located in the Huangqiao town of Taixing city – administered by Taizhou, in East China's Jiangsu province – was recently included on the list of national scientists spiritual education bases for the current year.
Ding was the leading Chinese geologist active in the Republic of China (1912–49). He was also the founder of China's Palaeontologia Sinica.
The exemplary deeds of scientists and their peers, who have made important contributions to technological progress, people's lives and national development, will be presented at the bases.

With a floor space of 1,200 square meters, the former residence of Ding Wenjiang is where he was born and lived in his youth. It features the garden architecture of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and looks simple and elegant.
The former residence is divided into the east axis, the central axis and the west axis areas. Of those, the west axis area was set up in 2007 to display the life stories of Ding.
Multiple presentation methods such electronic maps, sand table models, specimen objects and the reproduction of scenes and incidents are used to allow visitors to get to know more about Ding Wenjiang.
