The launch ceremony for Phase I of a major photovoltaic module junction box production facility, the world's biggest production center for photovoltaic module junction boxes, took place on Aug 8 in Hailing district of Taizhou city, located in East China's Jiangsu province.
The photovoltaic junction box is regarded in the industry as being an essential support product for solar photovoltaic power generation systems.
The project, funded by Sichuan Shidi New Energy in Southwest China's Sichuan province, is expected to inject new vitality into the high-quality development of Hailing's new energy industry.
The project will be constructed in two phases, with each phase constructing 100 gigawatts or GW (nearly 185 million sets) of photovoltaic module junction boxes.
Once fully operational, it will have a production capacity of 200 GW of photovoltaic module junction boxes per annum.
Feng Jiamei, chairman of Sichuan Shidi New Energy, told the launch ceremony that it took only 315 days to start the Phase I of production, which is widely regarded as being a reflection of Taizhou's first-class business environment.
She added that Sichuan Shidi New Energy would ensure the standardization and stability of each link through automated and intelligent production. This would provide high reliability junction box products for efficient components and serve the global photovoltaic module industry.
