Taizhou Huarong Malt Co Ltd – based in Hailing district of Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – is scheduled to start operations of its Phase II expansion project in October.
Costing 510 million yuan ($70.19 million), the expansion project is projected to produce 120,000 metric tons of beer malt annually.
After settling in Hailing in 2015, the company's existing production plant was completed. It started operations in just one year, to become a first-class malt production enterprise in China.
From barley grains to malt with a strong aroma, dozens of processes are involved, including cleaning, soaking and drying.
The company has introduced high-quality beer barley from abroad and has adopted the standard international tower malting process, thereby infusing its plump malt granules with a rich aroma.
"Our modern silo with a capacity of 60,000 tons adopts a fully intelligent temperature, humidity and air control system," said Ma Lin, deputy general manager of the company.
"The core equipment in contact with the malt is made of stainless steel to prevent raw materials from being contaminated during production," he added.
Ma said his company would also boost its cooperation with universities and institutes to focus on tackling technical problems and enhance its core product competitiveness.
