Hailing district of Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – has moved further afield to bring in fresh investment, taking its representatives to the port city of Xiamen city, Southeast China's Fujian province to drum up funds and business.
As a result, the 2024 Hailing (Xiamen) High Quality Development Symposium took place in Xiamen on June 18.
The event was organized by Taizhou's Hailing district, in a bid to raise the profile of the precinct and hunt out commercial opportunities.
During the symposium, 21 projects were signed up, with a massive total investment of 21.3 billion yuan ($2.93 billion). Of these, six were foreign-funded projects totaling $470 million.
Sun Qun, Party secretary of Hailing district, told to the symposium that both Jiangsu and Fujian had long-standing relations and both were important hubs in the Belt and Road Initiative.
Sun added that Hailing diligently followed the principle of "attracting a good project, driving an industrial chain and creating a new industry" – and he invited Fujian's enterprising businessmen to come to Hailing to start a new business and embrace a new future.
Earlier, Sun led a team to visit the Xiamen-based Highsun Holding Group and the Xiamen Cross-border E-commerce Park to further strengthen cooperation and exchanges.
