The Hailing district of Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – has ramped up the construction of major projects with the arrival of the new year.
In Hailing, a massive 200 gigawatts production plant for solar power module connectors and junction boxes is being funded by the Shidi Group from China's Southwest Sichuan province. It's seen as the first move for the company to open up the solar power market.
"The main body of the project has completed nearly 90 percent and the project is expected to be completed in June and put into operation in July," said Pan Wei, the project's manager of engineering construction.
The company says that on completion, the plant will be the world's biggest and most automated production facility for photovoltaic module junction boxes.
Elsewhere, Hailing's Jiangsu Chunlan Clean Energy Research Institute Co Ltd has been busy fine-tuning its new 15 gigawatt-hours high-performance lithium-ion battery plant. Recently, the first phase of the project started trial production.
The company will build two intelligent production lines for lithium-ion batteries, paving the way for it to be the largest square aluminum shell stacked battery production line in China.

Not far away, Jiangsu Zhongke Kehua New Materials Co Ltd is a national high-tech enterprise specializing in manufacturing semiconductor packaging materials.
The second phase of its semiconductor packaging materials plant has already been commissioned and two epoxy plastic packaging materials production lines have started production.
At full capacity, it's projected to reach an annual production capacity of 35,000 metric tons of epoxy plastic sealing materials.
