The Hailing district of Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province, recently harvested 81,800 mu ($5,453 hectares) of autumn grain, with statistics showing that as of Nov 8 the overall yield was 74.6 percent.

The district's corn, soybeans and yams have now all been harvested and the rice yield accounted for 68.2 percent of the rice planting area.

In Shuanghong village in Suchen town, four large harvesters were recently introduced to improve harvesting efficiency. "A harvester can harvest between 40 mu and over 100 mu in a day," said Meng Yongyin, a farmhand in the village.

After harvesting, drying the rice is the top priority. Gangyang town has purchased three sets of drying machine equipment this year, boosting the maximum efficiency of daily processing and drying by 30 percent.

Overall, Hailing district has been promoting autumn planting work. With a target planting area of 80,700 mu, 32,000 mu of wheat has now been sown.
