The burgeoning flower industry at Gangmen village – administered by Hailing district in Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – has driven rural economic development and led villagers to prosperity.
The much-prized local Hongzhang flower – also known as the anthurium – is the mainstay product at Gangmen village and greenhouses have been erected there, covering 60,000 square meters, to cultivate them.

At the premises of producer Feicai Horticulture in the village, its flower greenhouse is equipped with imported systems that feature environmental and temperature controls, water purification and automatic fertilization. These achieve intelligent control of humidity, temperature, light and nutrient solution formulas.
Every month, an estimated 40,000 pots of Hongzhang flowers leave the greenhouse to be sold throughout the Yangtze River Delta region.
Since its investment in 2017, Feicai Horticulture continues to expand the local Hongzhang flower industry and its Phase III and IV projects are currently under preparation.
The development of the sector has seen nearly 50 villagers get jobs and the collective village income has increased by 60,000 yuan ($8,714) every year.
