During the Spring Festival, a wide range of goods and efficient supply sources sparked a consumer spending boom in the Hailing district of Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province.
The five major commercial enterprises in Hailing hit 47.29 million yuan ($7.01 million) in sales during the break, up 6 percent year-on-year, while three major accommodation and catering enterprises reported 4.64 million yuan in sales, up 4 percent.
The First Department Store carried out promotions activities during the holiday and its gold jewelry sold well, with sales up 4 percent year-on-year.
Elsewhere, retail store Golden Eagle's total sales hit a record and its sales in makeup and apparel grew over 6 percent year-on-year.
What's more, daily necessities also sold well. Sales at RT-Mart and Century Mart supermarkets topped 6 percent on average year-on-year.
The catering industry experienced peak consumption during the break. Pengxin, Huibinlou and the Meilihua Hotel witnessed hot demand, with sales increasing 18 percent on average.
A number of Chinese New Year's activities are widely said to have helped boost the consumer spending boom.
A local official said the result could be seen as a reflection of the good cooperation between banks and enterprises, which carried out many promotions activities together.
