Jiangsu Hongqi Seed Industry Co, a State-owned seeds enterprise – headquartered in the Hailing district of Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – has received a singular honor.
It has been selected as one of the most trustworthy model companies with good credibility, local media reported.
The China Seed Association announced the result on Dec 15.
Seven seeds companies in Jiangsu province were selected on the list of the model groups, but Jiangsu Hongqi Seed Industry Co was the only one from Taizhou city.
Founded in 2001 in Taizhou, the company focuses on rice, wheat and corn breeding – improving seeds breeding and seeds marketing.
It is said to be a key leading high-tech enterprise for agricultural industrialization in Jiangsu province and an enterprise with a "AAA" credit rating by the China Seed Association.
On Oct 30, 2014, the company was listed on China's National Equities Exchange and Quotations, also known as the "new third board".

In recent years, the company has actively cultivated a series of "Thai rice and Thai wheat" varieties, with an average annual investment in scientific research amounting to more than 10 million yuan ($1.43 million).
It has built 10 breeding bases across the country, with an area given over to fine varieties of more than 100,000 mu (6,667 hectares) in production. It has also promoted agricultural technology in more than 200 counties or districts in 20 provinces across the country.
The high-quality rice and wheat varieties – such as "Taixiangjing 1402" bred by the company – have been well accepted by farmers since it was cultivated 12 years ago. In addition, the company has also accelerated its expansion into overseas markets and the influence of the Hongqi brand is said to have continued to expand.

Since 2017, the company's annual seed export volume has ranked first in the province, accounting for more than 15 percent of the total of the entire country.
