The Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone – also known as Gaogang district in Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – is widely said to have secured impressive results after three years of integrated development.

Also known as China Medical City, last year the zone jumped to ninth place among 204 biopharmaceutical parks in China, entering the top 10 for the first time.

Moreover, in 2023 the zone generated a regional GDP of 119.20 billion yuan ($16.4 billion) and its total output value of manufacturers above a designated size – those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan or more – hit 196.35 billion yuan.

Using only 12.6 percent of Taizhou's electricity consumption, the zone contributed to 23.4 percent to its total industrial output value and 24.1 percent of industrial invoiced sales compared with the city's total last year.

Over the past three years, the zone has added five stock market listed companies, so it is now home to eight listed enterprises.

Currently, the zone is home to 292 foreign-funded enterprises and 18 Fortune Global 500 investment enterprises, making it rank first in Taizhou.

To date, over 6,000 high-level professional staff have been recruited in the zone from at home and abroad.
