Diversified energy group State Energy Group Taizhou Power Generation Co Ltd – based in the Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone in Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – has launched an innovative carbon capture project to utilize carbon dioxide.
With a total capture area of 1,650 square meters, the project can capture carbon dioxide with a purity of up to 99.99 percent. That's by utilizing independently developed high-efficiency absorbents, integrated new fillers and efficient amine recovery technologies.
At 9:20 am on March 12, four tanker trucks loaded with liquid carbon dioxide drove out of the company, transporting it to nearby shipbuilders.
"Now is considered the off-season, with an average of more than 10 cars and 300-400 metric tons of carbon dioxide transported out of the factory area every day," said marketing director Feng Shuo.
Since it started operating in June the project has captured over 150,000 tons of carbon dioxide, equivalent to planting over 1.2 million trees, making it the biggest carbon capture demonstration project in China.
Faced with the problem that captured carbon dioxide can't easily be stored for a long time, the company has established a marketing team to target clients in various fields – including welding manufacturing, industrial dry ice and high-tech machinery cleaning – and has signed purchase and sales contracts with multiple units.
