Since the start of the year, operator Taizhou International Container Terminal Co Ltd – located in the Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone in Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – has been closely sticking to its annual goals and tasks to bolster the high-quality development of the port economy there.
The company is mainly engaged in domestic and foreign trade container loading and unloading, storage, container dismantling and filling, as well as other related businesses. It has opened many domestic and foreign trade routes, with over 100 cargo air flights per week and an annual throughput capacity of 300,000 standard twenty-foot equivalent units or TEUs of containers.

In January, the Taizhou International Container Terminal achieved a throughput of 31,600 TEUs, setting a record, a whopping year-on-year increase of 63.2 percent. Of that, the volume of foreign trade containers and domestic trade containers increased by 35.2 percent year-on-year and 95.2 percent year-on-year, respectively, marking a flying start to the year.
Last year, the company posted a total container throughput of 343,100 TEUs, up 4.9 percent year-on-year, exceeding the annual target by 13,100 TEUs. Its operating revenue increased by 5.6 percent year-on-year and total profit jumped by 43.4 percent year-on-year.
In the current year, the goal is for the company to complete container cargo throughput of 360,000 TEUs, an increase of 5 percent.
