Centering on lotus flowers, Dama village in Daisi town – located in Gaogang district, Taizhou city, East China's Jiangsu province – has been exploring ways to boost its lotus flower economy. This includes land transfers, a combination of planting and cultivation, and featured tourism.
In the Dama Aquatic plant Garden, lotus flowers in the pond form a serene natural picture. To promote rural tourism, lobsters and fish are also cultivated in the lotus pond so that tourists can go angling.

Established in 2017, the garden also sells lotus flowers seedlings. It currently has an annual output of 50,000 seedlings, with sales reaching 500,000 yuan ($68,979).
Additionally, Dama village started to build a sunflower field and has planted thousands of roses in the garden. It is also planting cherry blossoms along the local river, thus making it available for tourists to enjoy all year round.
Dama village is expected to generate over 600,000 yuan in tourism revenue alone this year.
