The second session of the sixth people's congress of Gaogang district – currently known as the Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone, located in East China's Jiangsu province – was held on Jan 2, with the participation of 196 deputies.

Taizhou vice-mayor Ye Donghua attended the opening ceremony and Ding Zhihua, acting governor of Gaogang district, delivered the government works report on behalf of its government.
Ding highlighted the main goals in terms of the economic and social development of Gaogang district in 2023. Regional GDP is projected to top 6 percent and the general public budget income is expected to increase by over 2 percent.
The incomes of urban and rural residents are seen as being basically synchronized with economic growth and urban areas are expected to add 16,000 newly employed people in 2023.
Around that goal, Gaogang district is set to regard high-quality development as its top priority and it will build a new industry center, boosting the competitiveness of its modern industries.
It will also aim to highlight the key supports of reform and innovation, build a new dynamic energy cultivation center and establish a science and technology innovation carrier, as well as recruit more top-quality and innovative people to its work force.
What's more, it is seen as being important to enhance urban capacity, promote rural revitalization, cultivate the district's green base and innovate in its social governance.
