Taizhou adds 33 new 'little giant' firms, showcasing strong momentum in advanced manufacturing

Taizhou's innovation-driven manufacturing sector continues to rise. On Oct 20, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology released the review results for the seventh group of national level "little giant" enterprises, with 33 Taizhou companies making the list.

This brings the city's total to 152 such enterprises, ranking sixth in Jiangsu.

"Little giant" enterprises represent the top tier of China's specialized and innovative small and medium-sized firms. These companies excel in niche markets, maintain strong R&D capabilities, hold high market shares, and master critical technologies.

According to Liu Jiangming, director of the Taizhou Industry and Information Technology Bureau, companies receiving the national designation must meet strict criteria. These include having more than 70 percent of revenue generated from core business activities, developing products in areas that address gaps in key technologies, and investing at least 3 percent of revenue into R&D.

The latest group of Taizhou awardees spans sectors such as chemicals and new materials, automotive components, energy conservation, environmental protection, electronic information, intelligent equipment, and new energy.

Among them is Poly-Orica (Jiangsu) Mining Machinery, located in the Xinghua Economic Development Zone. Leveraging cutting-edge technologies from global industry leaders, the company has secured a strong foothold in the international market for high-end bulk explosive trucks. It remains the only civil blasting equipment manufacturer in China to have maintained SGS ISO9001 certification for 15 consecutive years. Its products, widely used in open-pit mines and quarries around the world, incorporate advanced automated feeding and control systems that significantly enhance their safety and reliability.
