The 8th China International Import Expo concluded on Nov 10, with Taizhou achieving notable growth in participation, procurement and international cooperation.
A total of 241 companies and institutions from the city registered for the event, sending 979 representatives. During the expo, they held a series of business matchmaking and industrial cooperation activities, resulting in $83 million in procurement — a 66 percent increase from last year — along with the signing of agreements for several new projects.
Yihai (Taizhou) Oils & Grains Industries signed a $50-million soybean purchase agreement with Wilmar International, a Singaporean food processing and investing holding company, at the expo. The company also inked a cooperation project with the Port Industrial Park of the Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone, involving a 500-million-yuan ($70.6 million) investment in facilities such as a wharf and grain silos.
Hopefull Grain & Oil reached a $33-million soybean procurement deal with Honouround (HK) International Trade. The AstraZeneca Taizhou supply base hosted a ceremony celebrating its milestones in production value and overseas market supply, offering a strong showcase of the city's biopharmaceutical strengths.
On Nov 6, the Taizhou (Shanghai) Industry–Innovation Promotion Conference was held, bringing together more than 30 multinational corporations, industry leaders and business associations. The event aimed to attract investment and reinvestment in Taizhou, especially from multinational enterprises. Agreements for 16 projects were signed on-site with a combined planned investment of 7.51 billion yuan.
