International students visit orchid farm in Taizhou

The Jiejiegao Butterfly Orchid Plantation in Shenyu village, Gugao town, Jiangyan district, Taizhou, Jiangsu welcomed 15 international students from Jiangsu Agri-Animal Husbandry Vocational College on Dec 23.

The plantation, home to 200,000 orchids, has now entered its peak viewing and sales season. Inside the expansive 10,000-square-meter greenhouse, over 80 varieties of vibrant and elegant orchids are on display. Farmers were busy staking, shaping, watering, and preparing potted orchids for sale.

The breathtaking scene captivated the visiting students. Some admired the delicate blooms, others snapped photos, and a few conversed with the farmers, learning about the cultivation techniques and post-sale care of butterfly orchids. As a parting gesture, the plantation owner gifted each student a uniquely shaped orchid, giving them something to remember the experience by.

Known for its diverse varieties, excellent craftsmanship, and affordable prices, the Jiejiegao Butterfly Orchid Plantation serves not only the local market but also major cities in the Yangtze River Delta, such as Shanghai and Nanjing. It has also become a popular rural tourism destination, attracting numerous international visitors each year.
