Taizhou in Jiangsu province has seen a significant rise in its appeal to young professionals, ranking 39th in the "2024 China Cities' Talent Attraction Index for Post-95 Generation", up seven spots since 2021.
The city's commitment to building a youth- and talent-friendly environment, first outlined in its 2020 government work report, has yielded impressive results. Over the past three years, Taizhou has attracted over 30,000 young professionals annually, along with about 2,800 high-level talents. In the first half of 2024 alone, the city welcomed 14,577 new young talents, marking a 13.52 percent increase year-on-year.
As talent competition intensifies across the Yangtze River Delta region, Taizhou has strategically engaged top universities such as Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Lanzhou University, and Sichuan University. Through "Taizhou Day" events – held 70 times in the first half of this year – the city has promoted its opportunities and culture, resulting in 4,715 job offers.
Taizhou has established 26 apartments with 15,000 housing units to support young talent, offering up to 14 days of complimentary accommodations and amenities such as water, electricity, showers, and internet. Additional policies provide rent subsidies and home purchase vouchers for graduates.
Taizhou is also committed to fostering an inclusive environment that supports young professionals and their families, helping build a comprehensive service system for their spouses, children, and parents.
