With just two days remaining until the 2024 Taizhou Marathon kicks off on Oct 20, the city has been busy decorating the race course and preparing for the influx of runners from around the world. Through banners and decorative installations, the city has enhanced the greenery and overall appearance of the marathon route, creating a vibrant atmosphere for the event.
The Taizhou urban management bureau has coordinated efforts to promote the marathon by displaying videos on 15 outdoor screens around the city and featuring promotional content at bus stops and newsstands along the racecourse.
In Hailing district, additional flower boxes have been installed along Yingchun Bridge, while over 4,000 potted plants have been arranged to create colorful floral displays. On Renmin Road, more than 1,100 decorative lanterns have been replaced, and Taizhou Railway Station now features 12 bulletin boards and 24 railings adorned with promotional images for the marathon.
In the Taizhou Medical High-Tech Zone, 12 themed boards, 52 water flags, over 160 promotional posters, and more than 100 pole flags have been set up along the course.
The marathon's 42.195-km race will include 16 medical stations, nine water stations, 12 energy supply stations, 16 mobile toilets, seven hydration stations, and 11 timing points.
Participants will be treated to local delicacies such as Huangqiao sesame cakes, Jingjiang pork jerky, and Taizhou dried tofu at refreshment points along the course. Additionally, the opening ceremony will feature performances such as a navy-themed show and Mei Lanfang-inspired opera dances.
