Taizhou celebrates Peking Opera master's legacy with short video series

The 2024 Mei Lanfang Arts Festival is scheduled to open in Taizhou, Jiangsu, on Oct 11. In commemoration of the 130th anniversary of Mei's birth, a series of short videos titled "Honoring Mei Lanfang: A Classic Revival" will be released, starting Oct 10.

The nine-episode series features young actors from the Taizhou Mei Lanfang Peking Opera Troupe recreating iconic scenes from Mei's legendary stage performances, including his renowned shows in the United States. The videos incorporate Taizhou's cultural landmarks, showcasing the city's vibrant efforts to preserve and promote the legacy while building a cultural brand.

The entire series will be released on Oct 22, the 130th anniversary of Mei's birth.
