The Yangtze River Delta (Taizhou) Synthetic Biology Empowerment for Health Industry Conference took place in Taizhou city, located in East China's Jiangsu province, on July 3.

The event aimed to integrate innovation supply chains, industry supply chains, financial supply chains and talent supply chains, fostering the development of synthetic biology alongside Taizhou's health industry.

Taizhou, with over 1,400 large-scale health enterprises, has consistently ranked highly in China's pharma and health food industries.

"Taizhou is enhancing its layout in industrial agglomeration, innovation, integration and ecological optimization," said Shen Junfeng, executive vice-mayor of the city.

The conference emphasized industrialization, featuring the signing of eight projects – including six industrial projects with a total investment exceeding 5 billion yuan ($688.1 million).

Two academic-industrial projects were also signed, covering DNA information storage and future food technology talent cooperation.

The event attracted top universities, national key laboratories, leading business enterprises and venture capital institutions, all contributing to the ideas and dialog.

"We're aiming to accelerate the integration of various resources – ensuring scientific research results transition from the lab to industry – driving the high-quality development in Taizhou," Shen Junfeng added.
