Taizhou city introduces traceability code for food products

Manufacturer Jiangsu Wanye Food Technology Co Ltd – based in Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – recently introduced a tracing code for its products.

On March 13 it brought out Taizhou's new Taiyouyuan code for the company's pre-made dishes – like old mother chicken soup – becoming the first food producer in Taizhou to implement external packaging traceability coding.

With the Taiyouyuan code, consumers can use WeChat or Alipay to access real-time information – including food labels, enterprise certifications, product traceability and supervision inspections results.

They can also make online purchases, seek advice and file complaints – ensuring transparency and accountability in local food information.

The Taiyouyuan platform, a key project devised by the Taizhou administration for market regulation, facilitates efficient product traceability and government regulation.

Currently, 676 food production enterprises in Taizhou are using the platform.

Moving forwards, plans are for the bureau to gradually implement product coding for all local food products, ensuring consumer confidence in food safety. The bureau also aims to continue promoting digital transformation and enhancing regulatory capabilities to safeguard public health.
