Taizhou, a city in Jiangsu province, has in recent years made significant strides in ecological protection.

To safeguard the Yangtze River, Taizhou has completed 13 green island projects and 12 ecological buffer zone projects that have created over 2.4 million square meters of green space along the river. Water quality in the main stream has stabilized at Level II and the water quality of all main tributaries are now at Level III.

Taizhou has since 2019 been working towards the establishment of a groundbreaking big data platform known as Taizhou's Actions on a Healthy Yangtze River. This platform, the first of its kind in the Yangtze River basin, integrates detection, evaluation, early warning, and application functionalities. Since the beginning of this year, the platform has issued 2,297 early warnings.

Furthermore, Taizhou places emphasis on controlling sewage outlets leading to the Yangtze River. The platform is utilized to conduct all-weather supervision on 848 outlets in the Taizhou section and eliminate excessive pollutant emissions.

Taizhou has also invested more than 50 million yuan ($7 million) on air supervision projects, supporting carbon capture technology and advocating a low-carbon life.
