The national biopharmaceutical contest of the 12th China innovation and entrepreneurship competition opened in Taizhou, Jiangsu province, on Nov 23.
Key figures, including the secretary of the Taizhou Municipal Party Committee and officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology, attended the ceremony. Other renowned guests that were also present at the event include Xie Wei, professor at Southeast University and chief scientist of the 2030 National Science and Technology Innovation project; and Tang Huiru, professor at Fudan University and fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
This year’s competition has drawn in the participation of over 37,000 innovative enterprises. After several competition rounds and recommendations from provincial science and technology departments, 1,494 enterprises qualified for the national stage. The national competition focuses on seven strategic industries, including biopharmaceuticals. Around 600 outstanding enterprises will be selected, with some advancing to the national finals.
The finals of this year's national biopharmaceutical contest features 324 enterprises and they will present their innovative projects involving medical devices, intelligent healthcare systems, targeted drug development, and gene editing testing.
