Taizhou's first marathon draws runners for memorable day

Taizhou's inaugural marathon, the 2023 Taizhou Half Marathon, began at 8:00 am on Oct 15.

The event featured two races – a half-marathon and a fun run, with a total of 15,000 participants from various countries and regions.

In the half-marathon, two Ethiopian runners claimed top honors in the men's and women's categories.

The event introduced an efficient on-site number allocation system, reducing runner number cloths distribution times significantly.

The half-marathon course was well-equipped with medical stations, ambulances, automated external defibrillator devices and supply stations. Over 1,600 volunteers and official pacesetters from local universities and organizations provided support to participants, making it a memorable event for all.

In addition to the race, runners enjoyed local snacks and experienced the culture of Taizhou along the route. This event was a success, marking the city's entry into the world of marathons.
