The city of Taizhou – located in East China's Jiangsu province – recently got the green light from the provincial market supervision bureau to launch a quality inspections and test center for electronic automobile parts.

According to the local authorities, the center will be the first of its kind in the province.

Qian Hui, head of the city's Institute of Product Quality Supervision and Inspections, said the center would be developed as a key laboratory that integrated testing, scientific research, information, services and talent training.

Moreover, it would provide inspection and testing services – including those for electromagnetic compatibility, non-destructive testing, failure analyses, electrical performances, as well as technical research and consultations, he said.

"The industrial economy can't realize innovative development without the support and guarantee of the high-tech service industry for inspections and testing," Qian said.

The center will not only facilitate the on-site testing of automotive parts for local enterprises in Jiangsu, but also help to improve the design and management of support parts manufacturers, promote technological innovation and lead to a better future for the industry, he added.

The city's auto parts and precision manufacturing industry generated an output value of 73.85 billion yuan ($10.18 billion) in 2022. About 40 component product ranges produced there have an estimated national domestic market share of over 30 percent.
