Two large vessels – the Tiejian Xinpeng and the New Era Dream 2 – sailed out onto the Yangtze River on Jan 28-29 in East China's Jiangsu province, signalling a good start to the year for the coastal city of Taizhou's shipbuilding and marine engineering equipment industries.
The Tiejian Xinpeng is a semi-submersible vessel, with a maximum depth of 36 meters.
It is mainly used for wind power installation projects in coastal waters, as well as for key projects of the Belt and Road Initiative.

The other ship, the New Era Dream 2, integrates various advanced ship energy-saving and emission reduction technologies, which have intellectual property rights. Due to its large scale, there is a greater safety risk for it to navigate and berth.
Before they departed, a coordination meeting was held by the Taizhou maritime department to formulate a sailing and maintenance plan, in a bid to ensure the safety of the two ships.
Taizhou, as a national ships export base and the biggest private shipbuilding center in China – located on the north banks of the Yangtze River – is expected send more than 120 new ships out onto the river for trials this year.
