For thousands of years, its favorable weather, stability and harmony caused Taizhou city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – to be known as an auspicious land.

In Taizhou, it is widely said that the great humanities coalesced, establishing the preconditions for leaders in the spheres of interest to gather. Outstanding creative figures there included Shi Nai'an, writer of the Chinese classic novel Water Margin and Zheng Banqiao – a renowned painter from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) – and Peking Opera master Mei Lanfang.

There are also many places of historic interest and scenic beauty, such as the Guangxiao Temple, Chongru Temple, Chenghuang Temple, An'ding College, Rishe Garden, Wanghai Pavilion, Meilanfang Memorial Hall and the Memorial Hall of the Birthplace of the People's Navy.

In addition, there are many examples of wonderful natural scenery to take in there, including the Zhenhu Lake wetland, the Qiandao Cauliflower scenic area, the Water Forest, Tiandehu Park and an ancient ginkgo forest.
