The 2022 Messengers of Silk Road long distance cycling event wrapped up in Taizhou city, East China's Jiangsu province on Aug 26, with cyclists riding from Zhaosu county of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region to Taizhou to send blessings to the upcoming 20th Games of Jiangsu Province.
The cycling route started from Zhaosu county, passed through the cities of Gansu, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Henan and Anhui, and ended in Taizhou – the host venue for the 2022 Games of Jiangsu Province, to bring blessings of people from Belt and Road Initiative cities to the provincial games, and also send wishes to Taizhou and for national unity.
"It is the first year for Taizhou to hold the Games of Jiangsu Province and the 20th CPC National Congress will also open in Beijing this year. The cycling event is a platform to popularize the two major events," said Jiang Kai, chairman of the event's organizing committee.
The Messengers of Silk Road cycling event, which has been held for six consecutive years, is an effort of Taizhou to advance the Belt and Road Initiative. Cyclists ride bikes along the cities involved in the Belt and Road Initiative to promote national unity, rural revitalization, culture and tourism, and to transform the event into a distinctive promotion platform. The event has received wide attention and become an important cultural exchange project as well as a key project of Jiangsu's development as a high-quality Belt and Road intersection.
