Foreign-invested companies in Taicang, Jiangsu province, are increasing reinvestment in their businesses, reflecting growing confidence in the city's business environment and the long-term potential of the Chinese market.

From January to June this year, profits reinvested by foreign-funded enterprises in Taicang rose by 69 percent compared to the same period last year. This increase is driven by a series of expansion and innovation projects.

The rapid growth of artificial intelligence and high-tech industries has created new opportunities for foreign companies. For instance, Burkle Machinery, a leading manufacturer of PCB laminating systems, reinvested more than 30 million yuan ($4.44 million) from its profits in the first half of the year to expand production capacity and upgrade its automated production lines.

According to Benedikt Wagner, general manager of Burkle Machinery (Taicang), China has become not only one of its largest markets worldwide, but also its most important innovation partner.

Burkle Machinery is not alone in this trend. German company Schmalz invested an additional 70 million yuan in Taicang in the first half of the year to enhance automation solutions for China's new energy, automotive and robotics industries. Meanwhile, US Commercial Vehicle Group recently inaugurated its China headquarters in Taicang.

Today, Taicang is home to more than 1,800 foreign-invested enterprises. Many of these companies are moving beyond traditional manufacturing, establishing R&D capabilities in the city and becoming increasingly integrated into China's innovation ecosystem.
