Shanghai Chartwell Medical Instrument Co Ltd has unveiled the design for its new headquarters and research-and-production base in Nanxiang town, Jiading district. The project is based on a total investment of 380 million yuan ($52.8 million) and has a projected annual output of 1.7 billion yuan once fully operational.
The project, a key biopharmaceutical investment introduced by Nanxiang this year, will house trade, research and development, sales, and headquarters operations. It focuses on radiology imaging, ophthalmology, nuclear medicine, infection control, and assisted reproduction.
Located in the core area of Nanxiang, the twin-tower complex draws on the imagery of the ancient town's landmark twin pagodas and will feature the first dual helipad in Jiading, creating a new industrial landmark for the area.
Founded in 2010, Chartwell Medical is a prominent Chinese supplier, developer, and manufacturer of high-end medical devices and consumables.
Its product lines span nuclear medicine and medical imaging, central sterile supply department infection control, ophthalmology including intraocular lenses and orthokeratology lenses, assisted reproduction, and rehabilitation medicine.
The company has built a sales network covering nearly 4,000 hospitals and agents, supported by an after-sales maintenance system.
Biopharmaceuticals is one of Shanghai's three priority industries. Nanxiang has attracted more than 400 biopharmaceutical companies, with a significant share in precision medicine. It cooperates with leading institutes of higher education including Fudan University to promote industrial transformation.
